Step 1
Verify that the elbow adapter (B) is firmly secured to the mask. Ensure the exhalation valve (A) located at the top of the mask is intact.
Warning: Risk of suffocation! If the patient vomits during treatment and the mask is not removed there is a risk of suffocations. As such, infants, children, and persons with limited capabilities must be supervised.
Caution: Do not cover or seal the exhalation port.
Step 2
Hold the mask in an upright position. Rotate the elbow connector so it is horizontal.
Step 3
For medium and large masks, position the mask over your face. Gently place the strap (C) around the back of your head.
Step 4
For medium and large masks, pull each strap end to ensure a snug fit and achieve a seal around mouth and nose.
Step 5
Remove the mouthpiece from the nebulizer. Attach the Elbow Adapter (B) to the mouthpiece opening.
Caution: The nebulizer must always be upright when used with the mask, even when lying back for a treatment.
Step 6
Follow the instructions supplied with the nebulizer.
Warning: Have enough mask pressure against the face to prevent air leaks at the nose near the eyes. Refer to the drug product monograph for more information.
Caution: Use the nebulizer in continuous mode with the mask if you can't actuate it or can't form a tight face seal. Large air masks may cause the nebulizer to not work in breath actuated mode.
