Creative Lead, Graphic Designer

As a member of our Global Marketing team, you will conceptualize and implement the design of solutions to meet marketing strategies. Lead projects and guide the creative direction of concepts, layouts, and final artwork. Provide overall creative conceptualization for entire marketing campaigns. Provide creative leadership and in-house creative expertise for a variety of graphic design projects to be used in TMI internal and external communications. Projects include product-related materials (inserts, product decorating, advertising, brochures, sell sheets), multimedia and web site related functions, and internal meeting and display requirements.

Responsibilities Include:

Creative Leadership and Concept Creation

  • Guide the creative process and direction for projects.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to conceptualize and execute creative solutions for a broad range of sales and marketing activities.
  • Ensure adherence to corporate identity and branding guidelines

Materials Production

  • Manage successful production of materials with outside vendors by directing the activities within creative services including designing concepts, creative direction, resolving technical problems and proofing material for layout, graphic and typographical consistency.
  • Lead continuous efficiency improvements relating to the production of art.
  • Manage and maintain all product photography inventories as well as completed artwork and archived files

Health and Safety

  • Comply with relevant health and safety legislation, including the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma in Computer Graphic Design or a related field of study
  • 5 years of experience in computer graphic design on a MAC platform, ideally in an advertising agency or similar environment
  • Computer literate with:
  • Advanced experience with Adobe Creative Suite
    • Intermediate experience with Adobe PhotoShop (latest edition)
    • Intermediate experience with Illustrator (latest edition)
    • Intermediate experience with Quark Xpress (latest edition)
    • Intermediate experience with MS Office suite of products (latest edition)
    • Intermediate experience with Adobe PhotoShop (latest edition)
    • Basic to intermediate experience with Acrobat (latest edition) is an asset.
    • Basic to intermediate experience with Image Ready is an asset
  • High level of design proficiency and strong knowledge of design concepts
  • Knowledge of web, multimedia software, printing procedures, photography, and illustration
  • Knowledge of methods and techniques of graphic design and layout
  • Hands-on proficiency with peripheral equipment such as digital and video cameras, editing, and lighting. 
  • Knowledge of multi-colour offset printing and digital printing processes.
  • Copywriting experience
  • Knowledge of cuts, crease, folding, nature, and behavior of packaging material such as paper, corrugated sheet, synthetic, etc.
  • 3D layout skills is an asset
  • Programming experience in HTML is an asset.
  • Strong organizational, communication (written and verbal) and creative skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects with competing deadlines
