Online Resources for Living with COPD

Living a full life with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is more accessible than ever before with today’s online resources. Whether you’re looking for in-depth tutorials, facts, or simple tips on self-management, the web offers information at your fingertips. Here’s a few of our favourite bookmark-worthy websites for you!

The Lung Association

The Lung Association has been promoting lung health in Canada for over 100 years now. Working to fund research, improve treatment and support patients, their website offers everything from resources, to stories of those living with COPD and a list of their provincial associations.

Living Well with COPD

Living Well with COPD is a self-management program developed by a group of Clinician-researchers from the University Health Centers of Alberta, Montreal (McGill), Toronto and Sherbrooke. Offering learning videos, news, and a host of other materials available to members (you can sign up here for free), the site serves as a great resource for those with COPD looking to take steps toward improving their quality of life.

The nation’s website has its own page dedicated to COPD. Listing facts, management tips, and a host of other helpful resources, it’s a succinct collection worth visiting.

There’s also Trudell Medical International’s own Aerobika* device: a drug free, easy to use device that can help reduce the coughing and shortness of breath brought on by COPD. To learn more about breaking the COPD flare-up cycle, click here.

If you use a puffer (inhaler) to help with the symptoms of COPD, an AeroChamber Plus* Flow-Vu* chamber may also make it easier to deliver the medication to where it is needed in your lungs.
