- Study tested common methods of preparing VHCs before use to determine the effectiveness of these methods (various priming, pre-washing, or the use of anti-static materials in the design of a VHC)
- After pre-treatment (wash / no rinse / air dry) the AeroChamber Plus* VHC was comparable to the AeroChamber Plus* Flow-Vu* anti-static VHC when used out of package
- The use of anti-static materials in VHCs avoids the need for priming or pre-washing with detergent before first use
- Priming of non anti-static VHCs with multiple MDI actuations results in inconsistent medication delivery, is wasteful of medication, and is not as effective in mitigating static charge as the use of a well-designed anti-static VHC.
